Please make sure to take care of your library card and don’t let others use it. Borrowers are responsible for all items checked out on their cards. Let us know if your name, address, or telephone number changes and report a lost or stolen card as soon as possible. Lost library cards can be replaced for a $1.00 fee.
FOR LIBRARY ON THE GO! BORROWERS: Current check outs and holds do not automatically transfer in Overdrive if you were issued a new library card. Please contact support if you need to transfer your check outs and holds to your new account. Include your new library card number, old library card number, current position on holds (or wish) list, and current e-mail address.
What are the benefits of a Library Card?
With your library card you can borrow books, videos, DVDs, CDs, large print books, audiocassettes, circulating magazines, and more! You can also use library computers for Internet access. Cardholders can use most of the library's online electronic resources 24/7 from any location where they have an Internet connection.
Who is eligible for a Library Card?
Library cards are free to anyone living or owning property in one of our Member Municipalities; those that pay the county library tax. A reciprocal borrowing agreement allows residents of Monmouth County Member Municipalities to receive an Ocean County Library card. Ocean County residents with an Ocean County library card are eligible to receive a Monmouth County Library card. Paid membership is available for a $100 annual fee for those residing in Non-member municipalities. Please note that contractual restrictions prohibit the use of the Library on the Go eBook collection to paid membership borrowers.
How can you join the Library?
You can join the Library at any Branch Location circulation desk by completing a registration form. A resident parent or legal guardian must register children of any age under 17 for a Youth Card.
What identification do I need to join the Library?
The library requires identification that includes your name and street address, preferably a current valid driver's license. New residents can bring a lease, a recent utility bill, etc. Post office box addresses are not valid as proof of residency.
How long is your Library Card valid?
Library cards for those residing in Member Municipalities are valid for a three-year period. All other library cards are generally valid for one year.
