earthdayThe first Earth Day on April 22, 1970, activated 20 million Americans from all walks of life and is widely credited with launching the modern environmental movement.

Earth Day events will be held all during the week of April 21 at the Monmouth County Library! Celebrate Earth Day's 44th anniversary with storytimes, crafts and activities for all ages. Get your green on!

Día! Diversity In Action Children’s Events at the Library PDF Print E-mail

DiaCome celebrate Dia! at the Monmouth County Library in April! Learn how to dance the hula – or go Bollywood style. Play percussion instruments from around the world and dance to Russian balalaika music.

Día! Diversity In Action: Celebrating Many Children, Many Cultures, Many Books! is a celebration of children, families, and reading held annually each April. The celebration emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Dia is also known as also known as El día de los niños/El día de los libros.

Día is an enhancement of Children’s Day which is celebrated on April 30, and which began in 1925. was designated as a day to bring attention to the importance and well-being of children.   In 1996, nationally acclaimed children’s book author Pat Mora proposed linking the celebration of childhood and children with literacy to found El día de los niños/El día de los libros.
