NJ Makers Day Logo

The maker movement sweeping the country is more than just a hobby; it’s having a significant impact on school curriculum development and growing local economies. To celebrate making and maker culture, residents throughout New Jersey will come together on March 21, 2015 for the inaugural NJ Makers Day 2015.

The Monmouth County Library Children’s Department is proud to join libraries across the state by offering its own Makers Day event. On Saturday, March 21 between 1:00 and 3:00 pm at the Eastern Branch Library at 1001 Route 35 in Shrewsbury, children of all ages and interests will have the opportunity to get hands-on with robotics, technology, building and other creative innovations. Guest-makers include Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore, Art Kaney the Doodle Dude, and the library’s community partner, Home Depot. Minecraft art and gaming sessions, computer-aided robotic design, bug house and epic LEGO® wall construction, brush bot races, pixel and 3-D sculpting art are among the anticipated activities.

Be inspired… experience making, tinkering and STEM-based learning for yourself! No registration is required and activities are open to children ages 5 and up. See you at Eastern Branch on March 21!
