The Career Information Center at the Eastern Branch Library in Shrewsbury will continue its series of classes entitled Computer Skills for Job Hunters, beginning Monday, September 8.
These classes are designed to introduce job hunters to computer skills and online job search resources. Each class begins at 2:30 PM and runs for one hour.
Whether you are a first-time participant or need a refresher course, stop on by in September! The programs are free, but registration is required.
The Eastern Branch Library is located at 1001 Route 35 in Shrewsbury 07702. Please call 1-866-941-8188 to register for the classes. Register for any one class or for all 10, according to your needs.

Monday, September 8: Introduction to the Monmouth County Library Career Information Center
Participants will learn how to navigate the computer resources of the Career Information Center. Take advantage of tutorials ranging
from mouse skills and keyboarding, to Microsoft Word and how to fill out a jobapplication.
Tuesday, September 9: Email Essentials
When applying for a job online you must have an email account. Set-up an account, send attachments such as your resume and learn the how to write a proper message.
Wednesday, Setptember 10: Writing a resume with Microsoft Word 2010

Thursday, September 11: Introduction to Job Searching with www.indeed.com
This course will introduce you to online job searches.
Friday, September 12: Exploring Careers with Occupational Outlook Handbook and CareerInfoNet.
The Occupational Outlook Handbook www.bls.gov/ooh describes jobs, necessary training, job outlook and salary. CareerInfoNet www.careerinfonet.org offers this information on county and state level.

Use the Resume Maker to write and store different resumes for different types of jobs. The site http://www.jca.learnatest.com/ will guide you through the resume writing process and allow you to save resumes in Word, PDF or Text file formats.
Friday, September 19: Introduction To Linkedin
lets you create an online presence to facilitate employers or recruiters contacting you. Also learn how to network at companies you have targeted and join interest groups to grow your professional social network.
