Request Online
Please note: **There is a limit of 30 item requests for each patron.**

1. From the library’s web page, click on the Library Catalog link.
2. Choose the WebCat Catalog link.
3. Select your pickup library from the drop-down menu and click on Go.
4. Search for your item.
5. Click on the View button to bring up the item’s record.
6. After viewing the item’s record, click on Request (blue button at the top).
7. In the User ID field, type in your library card number (no spaces).
8. In the "PIN" field, type your pin if you have one.
    If you don't know your PIN, try leaving it blank or using your birth year. To have your PIN reset, please e-mail hqcirc@monmouthcountylib.org. When your pin is reset, it will be blank. You can leave it blank or create a new one for added security.

    To create a new PIN:
    a) click user services (top dark blue button)
    b) click User PIN Change
    c) User ID: type your library card number with no spaces
    d) PIN: type your PIN (if you had it reset, leave it blank)
    e) Enter new PIN: type your new PIN
    f) Re-enter new PIN: type your new PIN again
    g) Click Change PIN
9. Click Place hold - you will get a confirmation.


Common error messages

#UFREQUIRED FIELD MISSING
The library card entered has a PIN. If you don't know your PIN and need it reset, please call your local branch location or e-mail hqcirc@monmouthcountylib.org.

CAN'T PLACE HOLD--ITEMS ARE ON SHELF
The system does not allow holds placed on items are on the shelf at your pickup library.

THE CURRENT LOCATION OF THIS ITEM IS NOT HOLDABLE
The item you are trying to place a request for is not holdable (reference books, magazines, Ebooks are not holdable).

THE HOLD MAP DOES NOT ALLOW THIS HOLD
Please check that you are using a Monmouth County Library Card. Please contact your local branch if you have any questions.

NO MORE CHARGES ALLOWED
Contact your local branch location.

PLEASE ENTER YOUR CORRECT PIN
You have entered your PIN incorrectly. Please try again. If you would like to have your PIN reset, contact your local branch location or e-mail hqcirc@monmouthcountylib.org.

PRIVILEGE HAS EXPIRED
Your library card privilege has expired. Please go to your local branch location with the proper ID to have your privilege extended.

USER ALREADY HAS A HOLD ON THIS MATERIAL
You already have a request placed on this item.

USER ALREADY HAS THIS TITLE CHARGED OUT
You already have this item checked out.

USER BLOCKED
Your library card is blocked. Contact your local branch location .

USER CANNOT CHECK OUT THIS ITEM
You cannot check out this item, therefore you cannot place a request on it. For example, a juvenile card cannot checkout a DVD, therefore you cannot place a request for a DVD with a juvenile card.

USER HAS TOO MANY HOLDS
You have exceeded the 30 item request limit.

USER NOT FOUND
The library card entered does not match our records. Make sure you are typing in all 14 digits without spaces. If you still have questions, please contact your local branch location.
